You play an 8-bit cowboy whose goal on each level is to get to the door (and thus to the next level), but the door is often locked. To get it to open, you must shoot at one or more targets, and those targets aren’t always in your line of sight. For example, on one level the the target is a balloon which is stuck all the way at the other end of the screen. You must first nudge it free, and then watch it float up and try to shoot it before it floats clear off the screen. Your bullets are chunky pixels that have some weight – the have arcing trajectories, so you don’t always hit exactly where you aim.

There’s another level where you must jump on the balloon as it floats up, use it as a platform to get to the other end of the screen, and then turn to shoot it very quickly before it flies away. Each level is very short, and most of them are quite easy. And not only are the graphics 8-bit blocky, but they’re large too. Simply beautiful!

Mozy is one of the most popular cloud backup services around, with more than one million users storing around 70 petabytes of data. Its popularity apparently put it on the acquisition radar of VMware — which has now made Mozy part of its virtualization empire.

VMware’s official blog post makes it clear that the company wasn’t so much interested in Mozy as a consumer offering. Rather, it’s the inner workings of Mozy which piqued VMware’s curiosity. CTO Steve Herrod says, “Over the past 5 years, Mozy has built one of the best examples of a globally distributed, large-scale cloud offering.” He adds that the move will allow VMware to “further ramp our own cloud-related learning and accelerate new IP, scale, and capabilities” of its existing offerings.

Existing Mozy customers don’t need to worry, of course. VMware has pledged to continue running Mozy’s service without interruption.

Zoho has offered an iOS app for a while now — at least for the iPhone and iPod touch. Those of you who have been wanting to use the Zoho app on your iPad were out of luck, but that’s no longer the case.

Zoho Docs 2.0 has landed in the App Store, and the most notable change is that it’s now a universal app. Now you’re able to take advantage of the app’s mobile productivity powers on your larger iOS device. Retina display support has also been added, as have document sharing options — which you can utilize in both the viewer and collaboration modes.

Just like the basic Zoho service, the app is available totally free of charge. Paid subscriptions get you additional storage space and start at $3 per month for professional use.

Halloween is just around the corner, and even though times are tough, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still have a kick-ass costume. And since no one wants to end up trick or treating as a lame ghost (or a “sexy border patrol agent”), I’m here to help, with a handful of homemade Halloween costumes that allow you to still dress up as your favorite artist, while not breaking the bank.

Of course, if you don’t have a bank to break, fret not, because a lot of my ideas don’t require a costume at all — just your imagination, a fierce attitude and an awareness of irony that borders on, well, ironic. So, if you’re at a loss for your next costume — or too broke to care — read on, because, boy, do I have some suggestions for you. After all, Halloween is for everyone (especially those who love candy), and who among us doesn’t want to dress up like Coldplay?!? Have a look, and send me some candy!

Adele: Deceptively easy. Refrain from speaking to anyone all night (vocal rest!) while firing through Marlboros like a mahjong player on a bender. For added authenticity, sell approximately one bazillion albums.

Beyoncé: Take a balloon and stuff it beneath your $10,000 Reed Krakoff dress, mimic B’s matronly glow with a $7,000 HD Ruby and Diamond Peel Facial, strap your $1,200 Christian Louboutin heels on extra tight to replicate the ankle-swelling side effects of pregnancy. Or just down a crate of Four Loko and get all crazy like the “Ring the Alarm” video.

Britney Spears: Get a boyfriend with exactly 24 rippling abdominal muscles. Consume Strawberry Frappuccinos as if they were being discontinued. Be a commercially viable force, much to the consternation of critics and naysayers the world over. Say “y’all” a lot.

Coldplay: Dress in matching, finger-painted outfits with three of your closest friends (or, in a pinch, tattered French Revolutionary garb). Donate all your candy to Oxfam. Hang out with Brian Eno. Maintain an almost annoying level of self-efficacy.

Justin Bieber: Just get a snake named Johnson.

Kanye West: Communicate to every single person you meet as if you were speaking in ALL CAPS. Wear sunglasses, even at night. Have a bizarre thing for the Olsen twins. Over-share when it comes to your personal feelings and sexual proclivities. Create complex, Machiavellian conspiracy theories. Treat every comment and criticism as if it were a flaming sword to the torso. Cut a Maybach in half with your pal Jay-Z.

Katy Perry: Dress up as a mermaid. Or a gawky, orthodontically enhanced pre-teen. Or an S&M cheetah. Or a space alien. Or, really, you could just lick a bunch of candy and stick it to various parts of your body. Katy’s simple.

Lady Gaga: Sure, you could go the easy route and just trick or treat as Jo Calderone (and deliver a lengthy monologue while doing so), but where’s the fun in that? Instead, why not meld yourself with a motorcycle, like the British boxer-turned-model, make a drug-fueled music video with him. Note: May not get you a ton of candy on the farms of Northern Ireland.

We’re back again for another “Twilight” Tuesday, our recently resurrected weekly column dedicated to anything and everything popping in the house that Stephenie Meyer built.

Not that we’ve been lacking content this month, since “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1″ opens this week, but there’s always something to spotlight. This week’s special subject: the lucky artists on the soundtrack.

When you’re associated with any of the “Twilight” films, no matter in what capacity, it’s kind of a big deal — particularly if you are an emerging artist on the music scene and one of your songs is selected to be part of the “Breaking Dawn” soundtrack. That dream recently came true for singer/songwriter Ryan O’Neal from Sleeping At Last when he found out his song “Turning Page” made the final cut.

“I wrote ‘Turning Page’ about six months ago, and it was something I felt I really wanted to be from Edward’s perspective,” he told MTV News recently, after a special concert performance for the fans camped out before the premiere in “tent city.” “I thought, ‘That makes sense,’ and things just kind of layered on itself. And after the first few piano chords, I felt like that was where I wanted to go with it. So then I sent it in, which was a total shot in the dark. I hadn’t heard anything [for a while], so I was pretty sure it was a no-go. And then a couple months ago, I got a call and was told it was in some of the parts of the film.”

In exactly what parts of the film does his song appear? When Bella is walking down the aisle and during the highly anticipated sex scene. Can you imagine sending in a song as a “shot in the dark” and then finding out that it is featured in not one, but two scenes? And not only that, but those two scenes happen to be two of the most important in the movie? O’Neal is a lucky duck. A hugely talented and deserving one, that is, and very appreciative.

“I’m still kind of wrapping my head around the whole thing,” O’Neal said. “I’m so, so privileged. I can’t even believe it.”

Back in August at the MTV Video Music Awards, Katniss Everdeen was all by herself, a reluctant warrior ducking fireballs with bow and arrow in hand. As of Monday morning (November 14), Katniss is no longer alone. The world of “The Hunger Games” has exploded with the debut on “Good Morning America” of the first full trailer from the upcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling YA series.

The arc of the new footage comprises essentially the first 11 chapters of the book, from Katniss’ (Jennifer Lawrence) time spent hunting in District 12 with Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) to her decision to replace her younger sister as a Hunger Games tribute to Katniss’ training in the Capitol and finally the very beginning of the gladiatorial competition. Taken together, the trailer presents just less than half of the overall story.

And what a half it is. We get our first trailer looks at characters like escort Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) in wacky magenta makeup, games maker Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) and his rather creative facial hair, mentor Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) with his long blond locks, President Snow (Donald Sutherland), and stylist Cinna, looking, well, a lot like the guy playing him, Lenny Kravitz.

The action begins in the rolling woods of District 12, one of the improvised sections of Panem, the nation that rose out of the ashes of North America. As Katniss and Gale discuss a fantasy of escaping their lives under the brutal reign of the Capitol, you might be thinking the story takes place in the past. But then, in flies one of the Capitol’s airships. Trouble has arrived. It’s time for the Reaping, that annual lottery designed to select two young people from each district for a last-person-standing death match to be broadcast across Panem.

The Reaping has a chilling visual motif to it, all washed-out colors and grim-faced potential Tributes. Yet in this lifeless square comes a shot of lightning: Katniss won’t let her sister be sucked into the Hunger Games. She volunteers to take her place, and thus begins a new life for her and fellow Tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). They’re whisked away, at which point we catch our first glimpse of the shining Capitol, the Rocky Mountains looming mightily in the background. We see Katniss’ makeover, her training and then the very beginning of the Games, as the Tributes race toward the Cornucopia for supplies.

What happens from there? Well, it’s not too long before Katniss is all by herself, a reluctant warrior ducking fireballs with bow and arrow in hand.

Back in August, Beyoncé played four hotly hyped, sold-out shows at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, the same venue where Radiohead played a two-night stand last month. If you weren’t one of the lucky few who snagged a ticket to Beyoncé’s celebration of her 4 album, don’t worry. The singer will release a new concert DVD, “Live at Roseland,” on November 21.

The DVD, which captures the “4 Intimate Nights with Beyoncé” event, will be sold exclusively at Walmart and includes 26 songs from her cabaret show and concert, which took place shortly before she officially announced her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. The DVD not only includes a montage of B’s finest tunes, both with Destiny’s Child and as a solo star, but also features the singer candidly revealing the stories behind the greatest moments in her career.

In addition to a retrospective of hits, Beyoncé also brought things up to date during those string of Roseland concerts, playing her 2011 album, 4, in its entirety.

Jay-Z’s favorite lady, who just dropped her video for “Party,” will also release, on November 29, a deluxe DVD package, “Live at Roseland: The Elements of 4.” The pack will include plenty of extras that Beyoncé fans should go crazy over, including a two-disc DVD featuring the concert, bonus footage, previously unreleased videos, a booklet and a video anthology.

November 21 is shaping up to be a big day for pop fans. Lady Gaga releases her very own concert DVD special that day, in addition to the Born This Way the Remix album. Even better, she’ll bundle those two new items with her original Born This Way album for the ultimate Gaga gift, called Born This Way: The Collection.

While not a game per se, I found Mitoza intriguing enough to spend quite some time with it. You start off with a seed, and are then presented with two choices: you can either click a flower pot, or click a cute little birdie.

If you click the flower pot, a flower pot appears and the seed is planted inside. You’re then presented with two further choices — a water can or a bottle of fertilizer. Each choice you make causes your creation to morph, and presents you with two other choices.

There’s no winning or losing, really. Each “game” usually lasts around four or five choices, at which point the plant/animal dies in some creative (but not too gruesome) way. At this point you instantly start over with a new seed.

The graphics are captivating; the whole thing has a cinematic feel to it, with a bit of artificial camera shake added for style.

All in all, it’s a fun, peaceful way to spend a few minutes, and it might even make you think a little bit while you’re at it.

For members of the Cullen family whose first name isn’t Edward, there’s not always much to do in a “Twilight” movie. Sure, once in a while there will be a war against the newborns, but otherwise, they’re usually standing around, protecting Bella.

For Nikki Reed and her character, the perpetually ticked-off Rosalie, the new film “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ meant a little more variety than she was used to.

“There’s something going on!” Reed marveled. “I guess [there's] the relationship between Bella and Rosalie, as well as Rosalie and the baby and, actually, Rosalie and Jacob. There were a lot of really fun dynamics in this.”

But don’t expect the old Rosalie to be gone for good. Reed assured fans that there was plenty of the same, sharp vampire this time around. “I still got to play with the sarcastic, bitchy side of Rosalie with Taylor [Lautner],” she said.

However, in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” Nikki and the audience get to see a side of Rosalie they were not so familiar with. “I got to play sensitive and vulnerable for the first time — and happy! I smiled,” she said. “I actually saw the movie last night, and at the end, there’s this scene where I’m holding the baby and I’m smiling, and I realized it’s one of the first times I’ve seen Rosalie smile. It felt sort of weird. It stood out to me.”

“Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” on the other hand, means a return to a less active Rosalie, but she still plays an important role.

“It’s very serious, that movie, ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2.’ There’s a lot at stake,” Reed said. “I’m with the baby, so I’m protecting the baby, so you don’t see me do as much of the fighting action and stuff, but I am with little Renesmee.”

ANAHEIM – Benson Henderson and Clay Guida weren’t part of the UFC’s Fox network TV debut, but they still put on a show that the 14,039 in attendance will never forget.

After 15 minutes of non-stop action that had the huge crowd at the Honda Center roaring with approval, Henderson got the nod on the scorecards, 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27, but fight was a lot closer than the scores made it appear.

“Ben set a fast pace from the get go. That fight was a rollercoaster and Ben is a hell of a warrior. Fifteen minutes goes by so quickly in there and I still don’t know what exactly happened. Ben was better tonight and this is just a speed bump for me, not a roadblock,” said Guida

Henderson, a former WEC 155-pound champion, has worked his way through an impressive of some of the best fighters in the world to earn his chance against UFC champ Frank Edgar. Henderson and Edgar expected to meet in late February in Japan. Guida (29-12, 9-6 UFC) was the final step and made it tough.

Henderson (15-2, 3-0 UFC) was dropped a few times and found himself in some dangerous submission predicaments, even during the final seconds of the fight. Guida worked a guillotine choke for more than 20 seconds. Henderson escaped to avoid a shocking conclusion with just 12 seconds left in the fight.

The talk for much of the week leading into the fight was the mild frustration both fighters felt because their co-main event fight wasn’t going to be featured on Fox. UFC and network executives made the bold decision of building the entire hour around one fight, the UFC heavyweight title tilt between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.Guida and Henderson channeled their frustration into a helluva battle.

“I’m happy but I know that I can do a lot better than that. 30-27 was great but I always work to finish and I made a few mistakes that didn’t allow me to do that. I was stepping into my jab a little too deep and I felt like my timing was a little off. Still, I’m glad I was able to hold it together for the win,” said Henderson

Henderson is a well-rounded fighter so he decided to take on Guida at his own game – grappling in close quarters. In between throwing strikes wildly at each other, the fighters battled along the cage for control of the clinch.

They came out slugging in the first 20 seconds of the fight. Henderson dropped Guida with a big left. Henderson really controlled the clinch for the next three minutes landing some nasty knees. Guida scrambled and tried for a standing guillotine choke but couldn’t secure it. Henderson locked up the round with a late takedown.

In the second, the fighters exchanged takedowns early. Henderson again landed some good knees in the clinch. Guida threatened with another standing guillotine attempt, but rushed it and dropped to his rear too quickly. Henderson was able to escape. He won a scramble late and actually took Guida’s back to work a choke. The horn sounded before he could get a tight hold.

Henderson ate a big right early in the third and then just missed with a dynamic axe kick. His takedown defense was on display as he was driven all the way across the cage on a double-leg attempt by Guida.

Guida, knowing he was probably trailing in the fight, went for broke with a head kick attempt. He missed and his leg landed on Henderson’s shoulder making for an any takedown. Guida was on back with little chance of pulling off a late miracle, but he almost did. He scrambled to take Henderson’s back and lock on that final choke, but he ran out of time.

Jonah Hill has some advice for filming sex scenes: It’s best to do it with a friend. Otherwise, it’s going to get awkward.

When it came time to film the sex scene briefly shown in the red-band trailer for Hill’s upcoming film “The Sitter,” he was lucky enough to be working with a friend. “Ari Graynor plays my girlfriend, and she’s great. We’re really good friends, so it was not weird or anything,” he told us during “MTV First.” “It was actually really funny, and we laughed about it. She was so committed and cool.”

In “The Sitter,” Hill plays Noah Jaybird, arguably the world’s worst babysitter. Noah has more than a healthy sexual appetite, and when Graynor’s character promises to go all the way with him if he makes it to a party, he has little choice but to take the kids along for the ride.

For Hill, the key to surviving a sex scene is to make sure you’re friends with your partner beforehand. “If you’re friends with the person, it’s funny,” he explained. “If you’re not, it’s just awkward.”

But “funny” is the best you’re going to do, Hill said. “It’s never sexy. You know what I mean? It’s never like, ‘Aw, man, that was really sexy,’” Hill said. “It’s like 8 a.m., and they’ve been drinking coffee. It’s very mechanical, and there are 800 burly crew dudes around. There’s not a strong vibe.”

Then again, that’s not too different from Hill’s own sex life. “It’s like when I have sex in real life: 8 a.m., coffee, mechanical crew members,” he joked.

“The Sitter” hits theaters on December 9.

Beyoncé is known as one of the industry’s hardest-working pop stars — even when she’s expecting. A mere week and a half since dropping her boy-band tribute video for “Love on Top,” the pop titan has unveiled the visual for her J. Cole remix of “Party” on Wednesday night’s (October 26) episode of BET’s “106 & Park.”

“Party” takes viewers back to an old-school backyard celebration full of colorful bikinis, freestyle dancing and a few familiar faces, including sister Solange Knowles and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland. Throughout the video, B lets loose, playing a sort of party host. If she isn’t lounging in beach chairs, she’s dancing among her friends or mowing the yawn. Yes, Beyoncé is multitasking!

And it wouldn’t be a celebration without an appearance from J. Cole, the guest MC behind the remix of the Kanye West-produced tune. Midway through the video, the Roc Nation signee pulls up to the party with his ride glimmering brightly in the sun and spits his verse in the parking lot.

B fans learned there would be a clip for “Party” back in August, when the mom-to-be was spotted in New Jersey’s Oakdale Mobile Home Park. Probably due to her impending motherhood, Queen B shot a slew of videos for cuts from her album, 4, ahead of time. “Party” follows previous clips for “Love on Top,” “Countdown,” “1+1,” “Run the World (Girls)” and “Best Thing I Never Had.”

Just days after it was leaked on Friday, Britney Spears and her femme fatales, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, dropped their official remix of “Till the World Ends.”

The new version of the song was produced by Dr. Luke and Dream Machine. Brit half-whispers ” ‘Till the World Ends’ remix” before the beat kicks in and Nicki hits her verse hard. She spits fierce lines like, “Sniff, sniff, cries/ I done slayed your whole entire f—ing life.”

Then Britney’s sex-kitten vocals kick in for the song’s first verse. “That’s Britney, bitch! I’m Nicki Minaj and that’s Ke$ha,” the Queens MC declares before K sings the chorus. The beat is harder, the loops are sassier and the song is grimier than the original version, which was the second single from Femme Fatale. The newly added dubstep portion takes the one from “Hold It Against Me” to a new level by adding in bass-heavy synths.

Ke$ha, of course, wrote the track for Britney, and the ladies certainly don’t seem to mind sharing the spotlight with each other. The official track isn’t much different than the version that leaked over the weekend, though Spears did have something brand-new to share with her fans just as the song dropped on iTunes and streamed on her website.

Spears tweeted the artwork for the single, which features the original press photo of Spears along with separate photos of Nicki on the left and Ke$ha on the right. Spears wrote, “@NickiMinaj @Keshasuxx Too much fierceness for one cover! Thanks for lending your voices girls… #TTWEREMIX — Brit”

Spears and Minaj have been hanging out a lot in the lead-up to their summer tour. They hung out at the Factory nightclub on Friday night after Minaj’s show in Los Angeles. Spears later wrote, “Early rehearsal after a late night with my girl @NickiMinaj. Can’t WAIT to get out on the road with you.”

It's fun to say Android is fragmented on the Internet.  All the cool kids and blogs do it, they even make fancy misleading charts about it.  While there's more than one side to the argument — choice versus fragmentation — only the most rabid fanboy would say that it doesn't exist.  I tend to think the whole issue is living with the choice you make.  If you want the "Android" experience, buy a Nexus phone.  If you prefer the experience an OEM offers, buy one of their phones.  Both are the right choice.  But there's an underlying issue that gets forgotten when we talk about updates and versions — security patches.

The diversity of Android gives us a chance to have this user experience regardless of the platform version it's built from.  That doesn't make the want for the new software any less, but it a fair trade for most people.  Ice Cream Sandwich looks a whole helluva lot like TouchWiz 4.  Security issues are another matter entirely.  HTC had a recent issue about user privacy, have a read if you aren't familiar (be sure to read HTC's response as well).  They caused it.  They quickly pushed out a patch to at least one carrier to address it.  All security issues need to be addressed this way.  If HTC, or, Samsung, or LG, or Motorola — whomever — builds the OS and sells it to the carrier, they need to follow up with security patches in a timely manner — either by updating their base to the latest Android version and building their OS with it, or patching the issue themselves with the current code base.  Users deserve the benefit that patches to the bootloader, or browser, or whatever, much faster than companies and carriers get them rolled out.  Yes, that responsibility is shared by the carrier as well.  While they aren't the people responsible for updating the code and building the operating system, they are the people that accept your money for the device.  Carriers and OEMs need to work together to keep the phone secure for the life of the product, even if they don't work to keep the software version current.

On the enterprise side of things (something that OEMs are starting to take more seriously), this becomes critical.  Companies simply can't sit back and ignore the fact they aren't getting security patches, because their money is on the line.  Documents, contacts, and communications need to be secure as possible, and when cracks in the armor are found, the patches need to come quickly.  They don't, and this is a problem. 

I know that making sure your phone isn't susceptible to the latest bootloader hack isn't near as glamorous as getting Ice Cream Sandwich, or even Gingerbread.  These few words can't make that happen.  But I think we need to be pointing out the right issues — not having a phone that is secure for the life of its contract is one of them.

Back in August at the MTV Video Music Awards, Katniss Everdeen was all by herself, a reluctant warrior ducking fireballs with bow and arrow in hand. As of Monday morning (November 14), Katniss is no longer alone. The world of “The Hunger Games” has exploded with the debut on “Good Morning America” of the first full trailer from the upcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling YA series.

The arc of the new footage comprises essentially the first 11 chapters of the book, from Katniss’ (Jennifer Lawrence) time spent hunting in District 12 with Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) to her decision to replace her younger sister as a Hunger Games tribute to Katniss’ training in the Capitol and finally the very beginning of the gladiatorial competition. Taken together, the trailer presents just less than half of the overall story.

And what a half it is. We get our first trailer looks at characters like escort Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) in wacky magenta makeup, games maker Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) and his rather creative facial hair, mentor Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) with his long blond locks, President Snow (Donald Sutherland), and stylist Cinna, looking, well, a lot like the guy playing him, Lenny Kravitz.

The action begins in the rolling woods of District 12, one of the improvised sections of Panem, the nation that rose out of the ashes of North America. As Katniss and Gale discuss a fantasy of escaping their lives under the brutal reign of the Capitol, you might be thinking the story takes place in the past. But then, in flies one of the Capitol’s airships. Trouble has arrived. It’s time for the Reaping, that annual lottery designed to select two young people from each district for a last-person-standing death match to be broadcast across Panem.

The Reaping has a chilling visual motif to it, all washed-out colors and grim-faced potential Tributes. Yet in this lifeless square comes a shot of lightening: Katniss won’t let her sister be sucked into the Hunger Games. She volunteers to take her place, and thus begins a new life for her and fellow Tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). They’re whisked away, at which point we catch our first glimpse of the shining Capitol, the Rocky Mountains looming mightily in the background. We see Katniss’ makeover, her training and then the very beginning of the Games, as the Tributes race toward the Cornucopia for supplies.

What happens from there? Well, it’s not too long before Katniss is all by herself, a reluctant warrior ducking fireballs with bow and arrow in hand.

Once upon a time, there used to be a DOS game with a caveman and a human powered helicopter. The caveman would shuttle around the screen, madly trying to get customers to where they wanted to go.

Jetbus is not that game, but it’s obviously inspired by it. You’re driving a yellow school bus which has jets. I guess the jet engine takes quite a bit of space inside the bus, because you can only pick up one person at a time.

There are several doors on the screen, each with its own number. As you pick up a person, the status bar at the bottom of the screen shows you which number door you have to take them to.

You must fly your bus carefully, because if it gets bumped around too much, you lose. You earn money on each level, and can visit the garage to buy better jets and damping, power-ups, or even a whole new vehicle.

So while this game isn’t made as well as the original that inspired it, it does provide a few minutes of fun. And now, which one of you guys remembers the original and feels like pointing to it in the comments?

Long before its release, “J. Edgar” had movie fans excited for its opening on Friday (November 11). Why? Because it features the bona fide box-office draw of star Leonardo DiCaprio, rising star Armie Hammer and a living Hollywood legend in director Clint Eastwood. Not only that, but the film is based on the creation and formation of the FBI, which was founded by J. Edgar Hoover.

That subject might not be as intriguing to a young audience as something like “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas,” but the parties closest to the project want you to know that there is more to this story than drama and history.

“A portrait of a very important man in American history,” Eastwood told MTV News at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art “Art + Film” Gala when asked what younger audiences should expect from the film. “And [they can] get an idea of him if they don’t know about him. Hopefully, they know something about that and the history that surrounded him because he reigned at a very important era, starting with the Bolshevik invasion from within the [1920s],” he said.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black added that the idea of making the story relevant to younger generations was front of mind for him throughout the writing process.

“I wanted to write it for this generation. There’s a lot you can talk about with J. Edgar Hoover, but I chose the things I thought a young generation could identify with,” Black explained. “We’re not going to focus on McCarthy, we’re going to focus on Martin Luther King. We’re going to focus on things that [Hoover] did that were heinous, that these kids will probably be surprised by and also a lot of the great things he did that we’ve all forgotten about.

“There’s some gun-shooting and explosions and all that sort of stuff that I hope young people like,” he continued. “But for the most part, it’s a cautionary tale saying, ‘Hey, young people, here was a man that made his life all about being famous and it turned him into a monster.’ So fame is great, but if you don’t put love first, you might be a problem.”

On November 1, Justin Bieber will take his fans Under the Mistletoe on his holiday album. But he’s giving them an early treat by releasing his Usher duet, “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” on Monday (October 24).

The song dropped on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Its vibe is reminiscent of ’90s R&B tracks, and it sounds a lot like it could have been recorded by Boyz II Men, who also appear on the album.

The Christmas classic is all about the little joys of the holiday season, including the family get-togethers, the food and Santa bringing presents to children. The song, one of the classics that appears on the album, hits iTunes on Monday. Bieber and Usher previously appeared together on “Somebody to Love” off My World 2.0.

“Justin and I did the classic record ‘Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.’ This record is going to be remembered for years to come,” Usher told Seacrest on Monday morning. “It’s a record that has always been one of my favorites, and I’m happy that I was able to share it with Justin, and for us to put it out. The album is full of surprises. Justin’s Under the Mistletoe is going to be incredible!”

In the lead-up to the release, Bieber released some behind-the-scenes footage of his mentor and him in the studio working on the song. He also shared that he had another surprise in store for his fans. Just one week after dropping the video for “Mistletoe,” he tweeted, “Up early to shoot another video for #UNDERTHEMISTLETOE #Nov1st but something else is out this morning….”

In addition to Usher, Under the Mistletoe will also feature appearances from the Band Perry, Busta Rhymes, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey, who re-recorded her classic “All I Want for Christmas” for the album.

In the earliest Windows 8 images, we saw Windows Live integration on the taskbar. In the far right corner, there’s a user tile displayed. If you’d like to do the same on Windows 7, download Taskbar User Tile from DeviantArt user AngelWZR.

Once installed, your current picture will appear on the taskbar. Click it, and a menu appears which allows you to log off, switch users, and access the control panel. Right now, the mod only works if your taskbar is displayed on the bottom of your Windows desktop.

It’s going to be a very Justin Christmas. As predicted, Justin Bieber will land his second #1 album in a row next week when his holiday disc, Under the Mistletoe, nabs the top spot on the Billboard 200.

And though in recent days he’s been facing ongoing questions about the paternity suit filed against him by a 20-year-old woman, Bieber has been promoting Mistletoe hard, which appears to have paid off with sales of 210,000 in its first week. That was more than enough to hold off the second effort from rapper Wale, Ambition, which will come in at #2 (164,000), according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

Country singer Miranda Lambert is at #3 with Four the Record (133,000), edging out former “Britain’s Got Talent” star Susan Boyle, whose second effort, Someone to Watch Over Me, scores a #4 bow thanks to 132,000 units moved. English act Florence and the Machine make it into the top 10 at #6 with Ceremonials (105,000), while singer/actor Tyrese sneaks in at #9 with Open Invitation (76,000).

The rest of the top 10: Adele holds strong at #5 (108,000), Coldplay fall six spots in week two to #7 as Mylo Xyloto sales dropped 77 percent to 104,000, Michael Bublé moved another 89,000 copies of Christmas (#8) and Kelly Clarkson falls eight spots to #10 in her second week with Stronger, which slipped 69 percent on sales of 51,000.

Just outside the top 10, long-running metal act Megadeth come in at #11 with Th1rt3en (42,000), teen singer Jackie Evancho is at #16 with Heavenly Christmas (27,000) and Blink-182 offshoot Angels & Airwaves sneak in at #30 with Love, Part Two (16,000). Further down the line, a remastered version of U2‘s Achtung Baby lands at #35 (13,000), just barely ahead of the much-derided Lou Reed and Metallica album, Lulu (#36, 13,000).

Over on the iTunes charts, Wale wins the digital-album sales war, taking the #1 position over Bieber, with Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, Lambert and Adele coming in behind. Rounding out the albums list are Angels & Airwaves, Bublé, Tyrese and Clarkson.

Rihanna lords over the iTunes singles chart with “We Found Love,” followed by LMFAO‘s “Sexy and I Know It,” Adele’s “Someone Like You,” Flo Rida‘s “Good Feeling,” David Guetta‘s “Without You” and Foster the People‘s “Pumped Up Kicks.” Maroon 5‘s summer smash, “Moves Like Jagger,” holds on at #7, beating out T-Pain‘s “5 O’Clock,” Gym Class Heroes‘ “Stereo Hearts” and Bruno Mars‘ “It Will Rain.”

We will see how strong Mac Miller‘s pull is next week when his major-label debut, Blue Slide Park, hits the charts, along with the Now 40 collection and the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ soundtrack.

ANAHEIM – Benson Henderson and Clay Guida weren’t part of the UFC’s Fox network TV debut, but they still put on a show that the 14,039 in attendance will never forget.

After 15 minutes of non-stop action that had the huge crowd at the Honda Center roaring with approval, Henderson got the nod on the scorecards, 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27, but fight was a lot closer than the scores made it appear.

“Ben set a fast pace from the get go. That fight was a rollercoaster and Ben is a hell of a warrior. Fifteen minutes goes by so quickly in there and I still don’t know what exactly happened. Ben was better tonight and this is just a speed bump for me, not a roadblock,” said Guida

Henderson, a former WEC 155-pound champion, has worked his way through an impressive of some of the best fighters in the world to earn his chance against UFC champ Frank Edgar. Henderson and Edgar expected to meet in late February in Japan. Guida (29-12, 9-6 UFC) was the final step and made it tough.

Henderson (15-2, 3-0 UFC) was dropped a few times and found himself in some dangerous submission predicaments, even during the final seconds of the fight. Guida worked a guillotine choke for more than 20 seconds. Henderson escaped to avoid a shocking conclusion with just 12 seconds left in the fight.

The talk for much of the week leading into the fight was the mild frustration both fighters felt because their co-main event fight wasn’t going to be featured on Fox. UFC and network executives made the bold decision of building the entire hour around one fight, the UFC heavyweight title tilt between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.Guida and Henderson channeled their frustration into a helluva battle.

“I’m happy but I know that I can do a lot better than that. 30-27 was great but I always work to finish and I made a few mistakes that didn’t allow me to do that. I was stepping into my jab a little too deep and I felt like my timing was a little off. Still, I’m glad I was able to hold it together for the win,” said Henderson

Henderson is a well-rounded fighter so he decided to take on Guida at his own game – grappling in close quarters. In between throwing strikes wildly at each other, the fighters battled along the cage for control of the clinch.

They came out slugging in the first 20 seconds of the fight. Henderson dropped Guida with a big left. Henderson really controlled the clinch for the next three minutes landing some nasty knees. Guida scrambled and tried for a standing guillotine choke but couldn’t secure it. Henderson locked up the round with a late takedown.

In the second, the fighters exchanged takedowns early. Henderson again landed some good knees in the clinch. Guida threatened with another standing guillotine attempt, but rushed it and dropped to his rear too quickly. Henderson was able to escape. He won a scramble late and actually took Guida’s back to work a choke. The horn sounded before he could get a tight hold.

Henderson ate a big right early in the third and then just missed with a dynamic axe kick. His takedown defense was on display as he was driven all the way across the cage on a double-leg attempt by Guida.

Guida, knowing he was probably trailing in the fight, went for broke with a head kick attempt. He missed and his leg landed on Henderson’s shoulder making for an any takedown. Guida was on back with little chance of pulling off a late miracle, but he almost did. He scrambled to take Henderson’s back and lock on that final choke, but he ran out of time.

Earlier this week, Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj dropped their femme-fatale-friendly remix of the Spears club track “Till the World Ends.” The already fun song got super-charged thanks to Minaj’s cutting verses and Ke$ha’s recognizable vocals.

“I’m a massive fan of both the ladies I share the track with,” K told MTV News on Wednesday at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards. “I wrote ‘TTWE’ for Britney with [producers] Dr. Luke and Max [Martin] and she killed it and I loved it, but I just thought a supergroup of three hot, strong women could just take over the airwaves.”

Ke$ha went on to give props to both the ladies. “I’m such a massive fan of Britney and I’m such a massive supporter of Nicki and a fan, and chicks sometimes don’t team up. I don’t know why, but I’m, like, huge on the girl power, so I just wanted to make a power girl track take over.”



The remix quickly won praise from fans who seem to think the new features step up the song’s game. “You know, with the three of us, I wasn’t necessarily surprised [people like it] because I’m such a massive fan of Nicki Minaj and obviously with Britney I’m a fan of it, [taking] myself out of the equation,” she said. “I’m just happy people like it.”



So did Ke$ha (who once sang backup for Spears) feel any pressure writing a song for Britney? “There was no pressure. Writing for somebody else is really fun ’cause I consider myself a songwriter first and foremost,” she explained. “So it was so much fun to put my brain in the sexy Britney Spears brain and express myself almost as if I were possessed by her.”

With the UFC’s first broadcast on Fox over and a new heavyweight champion in place, everyone involved with the show will likely relax over the weekend and enjoy the spoils of this massive event. On Monday, they’ll sit down and look at what worked and what didn’t.

The one-hour broadcast was well-paced and informative, but far from perfect. There were elements that the UFC and Fox should definitely do again, and a few they need to change.

The let’s-do-this-again:

– The use of the NFL on Fox music: Hearing the opening strains of the “NFL on Fox” music gave me goosebumps, and it sent a clear message from the start that the UFC on Fox would get the same big game treatment that the NFL gets every Sunday.

– The history montage: UFC on Fox took place 18 years to the date after UFC 1, and the broadcast started with a pitch-perfect montage to show how far the promotion has come. Not only did it nod to hardcore and longtime fans, it also showed off some of the UFC’s best-known stars.

– The Dana White/Brock Lesnar segments: Lesnar was not afraid to verbally spar with his boss, and that made the segments more fun. Lesnar made it a little bit too much about himself, but White going back and forth with an intelligent fighter who knows how to speak on camera should be repeated.

– Primetime, and the Primetime segments repeated: The Primetime special that aired on Fox to introduce viewers to dos Santos and Velasquez was smart, emotional, and fleshed out two men who were capable of such violence as real people. Not surprisingly, segments from those Primetimes were woven into the UFC on Fox broadcast and reminded new viewers that Velasquez is a doting father and dos Santos is a smiling mama’s boy.

– Introduction and rules from Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan: This was very well-done. It’s clear that Goldberg and Rogan were well-rehearsed and prepared for this segment. They didn’t belabor the rules, and gave viewers things to look out for from each fighter.

The let’s-make-some-changes:

– Identify people on the red carpet: This was a chance for both the UFC and Fox to push their stars, but they whiffed by not identifying who each person was. I watch plenty of television, but didn’t recognize many of the non-athletes on the red carpet.

– Remind Dana White to take a breath: He was excited and nervous, but my Twitter timeline was filled with people who don’t usually watch MMA saying that they didn’t understand White. Perhaps he can use the advice Mrs. Excell gave me in sixth grade about speaking into a microphone: If you think you’re talking too slowly, you’re just about perfect.

– Make room for another fight, or at least show a highlight reel of the undercard: Something that the UFC has done much better than boxing is build up stars by stacking an undercard. It was Fox’s decision to have just one fight, but they had a prime opportunity to highlight the exciting Benson Henderson win over Clay Guida, DaMarques Johnson’s knockout or Ricardo Lamas’ submission. With not so much as a highlight montage, they whiffed on that.

Afterwards, White said that the production went perfectly. On the flip side, CNBC sports business Darren Rovell did an unscientific Twitter poll to ask non-MMA fans if they would watch again based on Saturday night’s broadcast. He has nearly 20,000 followers, and 46.2 percent of those who replied said that they are less likely to watch.

That is due mostly to the short fight. The UFC didn’t get a chance to showcase how exciting their fights can be in just 1:04, but did the broadcast help or hinder? Anything the broadcast needs to add or subtract? Tell us in the comments or on Facebook.

ANAHEIM – It’s probably not what the UFC and Fox were looking for at the start of their partnership, but you can’t control what happens in the Octagon.

Junior dos Santos landed a huge overhand right on the side Cain Velasquez’s head, and the fight was over seconds later. Just like that in the promotion’s debut on network television, it took JDS just 64 seconds to grab the UFC heavyweight title at the Honda Center.

A minute after the finish of the fight, Velasquez was walking around and had his senses about him. That’s the downside of MMA. There is no 10 count. If you go down and the opponent pounds on you, the referee has to stop it.

Velasquez hit the deck and wasn’t defending himself. Referee John McCarthy halted the fight after 12 more shots from dos Santos. Nos. 10 and 11 caused Velasquez to turn to his side, cover up and stop fighting back.

“He messed up my equilibrium. It was a good shot. He has good power,” Velasquez said. “I waited too long to go after him.”

During the lead-up to the fight, the very pro-Mexican crowd roared for Velasquez.

“I just want to say sorry to all the fans, my family and friends. I disappointed you,” Velasquez said. “I will come back and I will get this belt back.”

Velasquez (9-1, 7-1 UFC) was returning after a 13-month layoff to recover from a shoulder injury. He came into the fight five pounds heavier than any previous UFC fight. He’s usually a ball of energy from the opening seconds of his fights, but tonight he was a little tentative.

This was your classic striker vs. grappler match-up. Velasquez has a solid stand-up game, but nowhere near the hand speed and power that dos Santos possesses. The longer it stayed standing, the better it was going to go for dos Santos. Velasquez attempted one takedown from long distance but came up empty.

The 27-year-old Brazilian is still unbeaten in the UFC. His title reign, if it lasts more than one fight, should be interesting. The depth in the big man division gets better each month.

Brock Lesnar, the former champ who lost to Velasquez last October, is coming back this December. He’ll face former Strikeforce heavyweight king Alistair Overeem with the winner getting the next crack at the title.

Dos Santos (14-1, 9-0 UFC) has won seven of his nine UFC fighter with a finish.

Now that Windows 8 images have begun leaking out, it’s only a matter of time until developers start releasing mods for Windows 7 which mimic upcoming features. Over at Into Windows, they’ve spotted one such mod already.

In the earliest Windows 8 images, we saw Windows Live integration on the taskbar. In the far right corner, there’s a user tile displayed. If you’d like to do the same on Windows 7, download Taskbar User Tile from DeviantArt user AngelWZR.

Once installed, your current picture will appear on the taskbar. Click it, and a menu appears which allows you to log off, switch users, and access the control panel. Right now, the mod only works if your taskbar is displayed on the bottom of your Windows desktop.

Mozilla’s Engineering Project Manager, Christian Legnitto, has detailed the release schedule for Firefox 5, 6 and 7. If all goes to plan, Firefox 6.0a1 will be released next week, April 12, and Firefox 7.0a1 in the middle of May. The final build of Firefox 5 should be released on June 21, exactly three months after the release of Firefox 4.

Along with the faster 6-week release cadence, Firefox’s new Chrome-like release channels have also been given names and anticipated update frequencies. The most notable change is the introduction of a new alpha channel — which is analogous to Chrome Canary — that will be called ‘aurora’ and will update nightly. Aurora will be where fixes and features are tested, and either approved for Beta, or backed out to Central. Aurora will have a new icon, too.

The Nightly (mozilla-central) channel will remain unchanged in name and frequency, but it will gain a new ‘nightly icon.’ The Beta (mozilla-beta) channel will remain as-is, with new builds rolling out weekly. The Release (mozilla-release) channel will also remain as-is, with security and stability updates coming every 6 to 12 weeks.

It should be noted that the names (including ‘aurora’) are not necessarily final, but it’s unlikely that they’ll change. We’re also awaiting the arrival of the new ‘channel switching’ technology, which should arrive in the next few days — in time for the release of Firefox 6 aurora!

Zen Coding made quite a splash when we first covered it almost a year ago. For those who aren’t familiar, Zen is a fantastic form of shorthand for quickly hand-coding HTML. And today, a new version is out!

Here are some of the goodies version 0.7 brings to the party:

• Text nodes: Writing something like a[href=/]{Click here} now works, and puts “Click here” within the link.
• New actions added: Increment/decrement number under cursor, evaluate math expressions, and more.
• Wrap with Abbreviation was upgraded.

There are several other improvements but they’re all rather technical. If you use Zen Coding (or are intrigued by the concept) go ahead and read the release notes for this new version.

Zen Coding has official implementations for a ton of editors, including TextMate, Apatana, Coda, E2, Komodo, Notepad++, PSPad, and more. It also has unofficial builds for Vim, UltraEdit, Visual Studio and more.

If you want to play with Zen Coding without installing it, you can use the online demo to see some of its magic in action.
